SCO Food Security Forum opens in Yinchuan

The Food Security Forum of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) was held in Yinchuan, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region on November 11, 2015. The theme of the forum was "promoting agricultural S&T innovation and improving food security".
Representatives of SCO member states shared their good practices in advancing agricultural S&T progress and sustainable development of agriculture and rural area, and discussed the priorities and ways to intensify cooperation in agricultural technological innovation.
In order to enhance future cooperation in this regard,the Chinese side put forward a three-point suggestion: first, implement all consensus reached at the 3rd SCO Agricultural Ministerial Meeting, and develop the action plan and measures for agricultural S&T exchanges and cooperation through discussion; second,ensure regional food security, seek innovative approaches and promote knowledge sharing; conduct joint studies & development, exchange visits and personnel training, in order to beef up collaboration in major plant and animal disease control, farm machinery, agro-product processing and trade; third, encourage and support research institutes and businesses to build up direct partnership for technological exchanges and investment cooperation.
It is believed that the forum will play an active role in facilitating SCO member states to deepen agricultural S&T exchanges and cooperation, and make joint efforts to ensure regional food security.
There were over 60 domestic and overseas delegates attending the forum.
